This is the first post on Spam Meltdown, though the site is not going live today. I am simply pushing out some content so that backlog of samples doesn't get to large, and the site can have some content when it does launch. So on with the very first post!

I selected the topic of fashion for one simple reason. This was one of the first types of sites I collected for and therefore has the most samples! Not the most exciting reason, but what is interesting is how in viewing these it made me realize just how much I have to say about spam.

Obviously this industry is one that is primarily focused on sales. The more cloths you sell the better. No one says I want to be a small fashion designer and only sell a few hundred items. At least no one I know. I find it intriguing how these different clothing manufacturers represent themselves. Most of the samples like Bebe or Old Navy make it their goal to show you the product. I love how the Old Navy sample showed the cloths on people, but removed the people. This puts the focus square onto the end product. Seems like a great approach to me. And this is why I find the Abercombie sample so striking. Their emails don't show the product at all. It is 100% about selling the intended results of the product; that it will somehow automatically make you attractive. I suppose this fits perfectly with the image the brand has in general.

Ok, on with the samples:
